Denise  Thanepohn, O.D.

Dr. Denise Thanepohn has been an Optometric doctor Alaska Eye Care Centers since 1981. She is a graduate of Illinois College of Optometry and is Board Certified. She is an active member of the American and Alaskan Optometric Associations.

She enjoys all aspects of eye care, and diagnoses and manages many eye conditions including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, hypertension, diabetes and keratoconus. She fits specialty contact lenses with a particular interest in scleral lenses.

Dr. Thanepohn lives in Anchorage with her husband Dan Dieckgraeff. Now that they are empty nesters, they enjoy visiting their 4 children who live all over the world. They garden in the summer, and like to hike, enjoying the quiet beauty of Alaskan trails.

Patrick  Reber, O.D.

Dr. Reber joined Alaska Eye Care Centers in the fall of 1993 after his graduation from the University Of Houston College Of Optometry. He is an active member of both the Alaska and American Optometric Associations and also holds licenses in Texas and Oklahoma. Dr. Reber is board certified in CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) and specializes in contact lens fittings. He has also taken time to speak on radio and television about the importance of eye care and occasionally does presentations at local schools.

He is very active in the community, most notably with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as an Asst. Scoutmaster and a Chapter Advisor for the Order of the Arrow. Dr. Reber also served as the Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Opening Eyes vision screening program for 12 years.

He and his wife Michelle have been married since 1997 and they live in Eagle River with their 3 children; Jasmine and twin sons, Alex and Michael.

James  Falconer, Jr., O.D.

Dr. “Jim, Jr.” was born and raised in Anchorage.  He graduated from New England College of Optometry in 1998 and joined Alaska Eye Care Centers in August of the same year.  Prior to practicing optometry, he completed a doctorate in biomedical imaging research at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston.

Dr. Jim was the President of the Alaska Optometric Association in 2010 and is immediate past president.  He is also an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor with Pacific University College of Optometry and an active member of the American Optometric Association .  He is also actively involved in diabetic community services . Dr. Jim’s wife, Kathy, is a teacher, and they have two children.  He enjoys the outdoors, skiing, soccer and tennis. 

Ladd  Nolin, O.D.

Dr Ladd Nolin was born and raised in Montana. He did his undergraduate work at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree and a major in Biology in 1997. He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2002 and did a year of Residency at the Roseburg Veterans Administration in Roseburg, Oregon. He joined Alaska Eye Care Centers in July of 2003. He has also served as a volunteer on the board of the Alaska Optometric Association for several years. In addition, he was an adjunct clinical professor for Pacific University College of Optometry for quite some time. Dr. Nolin lives in Anchorage and is an outdoorsman, regularly enjoying fly fishing, hunting, hiking and snowboarding. He loves to travel in order to explore new fly fishing opportunities.

Ian Ford, O.D.

Dr. Ford graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2007 and joined Alaska Eye Care Centers in July of the same year.  He is an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor with Pacific University College of Optometry and is a member of the Alaska Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. 

Dr. Ford is actively involved in the community and “Big Brothers, Big Sister’s Of Alaska“ . He enjoys traveling,  golfing and mountain biking.

Joshua Cook, O.D.

Dr. Joshua Cook was born and raised in Highland, Utah. He studied at Brigham Young University where he earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. He became an Optometric Physician after attending the University of Houston, College of Optometry graduating Magna Cum Laude. He enjoys all aspects of optometry; from pediatrics and difficult to fit contact lenses to ocular disease. Dr. Cook also has a special interest in "myopia control" or slowing the gradual progression of nearsightedness. This is especially helpful to children during their growing years. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Alaska Optometric Association. One of Dr. Cook's more important qualities is to take significant interest in understanding the patient's desires and eye care needs, and provide the appropriate care with integrity.

Dr. Cook is married to his wife, Brooke, and they have four wonderful children — two boys and two girls. He loves living in Alaska and being outdoors. When he's not helping people with their vision you can find him doing activities such as hiking, fly fishing, camping and skiing. His most favorite activities are those spent with his family.

Jessica Giesey, O.D.

Dr. Giesey is originally from Wheeling, WV. She received her bachelors degree in chemistry from West Liberty University before attending The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she graduated with honors in 2014 and immediately moved to Alaska to join AECC. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages with a special interest in contact lenses and dry eye treatment. She is an active member in the leadership of the Alaska Optometric Association and enjoys hiking, skiing, travel, Buckeye football games and exploring Alaska in her 1992 Toyota Dolphin.

Dr. Goslin

Lauren Goslin, O.D.

Dr. Goslin is the newest addition to the Alaska EyeCare Centers family, and is excited to bring her sunny personality and patient care skills to the team. She completed her undergraduate studies at Ferris State University in the state of Michigan, before continuing her studies at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Although she enjoys all aspects of Optometry, she finds Dry Eye Disease treatment to be particularly rewarding. She is currently working on becoming a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a will be joining the Alaska Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. Dr. Goslin is married to her husband, Thomas, and enjoys spending time with him and their three dogs.
